Camramble April 2022

Potteries CAMRA Branch ‘Camramble’, Saturday 23rd April 2022

This pub-related ramble can be done at any time, but we are doing it as an event prior to our Branch April meeting being held in the Blue Bell, Hardingswood.

We are meeting in the Wheatsheaf (Tunstall) at 12:00 midday (as people will be arriving from different directions Longton, Hanley, Newcastle and possibly Kidsgrove. The total walk is approximately 3 miles, mainly on the pavements, some rough ground and with some fairly steep up and down parts.

At about 12:20 we shall catch the First bus 3A, 8 stops to Woodstock Street Travellers Rest. This is where we start the ramble, leaving the pub at 1:00pm, we shall walk along Woodstock Road, down (caution no pavement and quite steep) Gill Bank Road, at the bottom turn left along Broadfield Road to the Cushion on the left. The walk takes about 11 minutes.

About 1:45pm, walk back along Broadfield Road, past the Gill Bank Road onto Woodstock Road to the delipidated building at the bottom of the road where you meet Acre Nook Road, turn sharp right along Nelson Bank and the Rifleman Inn is on your right. This walk will take about 13 minutes

At about 2:25pm walk along Nelson Bank to the junction. Bear left along Ravenscliffe Road , turn right at the end up Liverpool Road to the Crown & Thistle. This walk will take about 20 minutes.

About 3:15pm walk about 1 minutes down Liverpool Road to The Plough Inn.

Departing the Plough about 3:40 walk for about 1 minute and catch the First 3 bus (3 stops Gloucester Road), walk back towards Lidl to Hardingswood Road, turn left after the Canal Tavern for the Blue Bell Inn (this portion is walkable and takes about 20 minutes via the Canal entrance on Kidsgrove Railway Station).

The Potteries CAMRA Branch meeting commences at 4:30pm.
